Koeppchen Offers a Must-See View of Luxembourg’s Moselle
When driving along the Moselle River near Wormeldange, Luxembourg, you might notice a tiny chapel atop a steep, vineyard-covered hill. The chapel is dedicated to St. Donatus, one of Luxembourg’s favorite saints, the patron of protection from storms. The site is known in Luxembourgish as “Koeppchen.”
“If you want a spectacular view of Luxembourg’s Moselle, you’ve got to get off the main road and take a drive up to Koeppchen, which towers over the Village of Wormeldange,” said Kevin Wester. “The narrow road to Koeppchen is rather rustic and spirals through active vineyards, so drive carefully and be respectful of the vintners whose property you are crossing.”
Finding the entrance to the winding road up to Koeppchen can be tricky. Kevin recommends using GPS and searching for “Koeppchen Chapel Wormeldange, Luxembourg.” Look for the sign marked Koeppchen with an arrow at the entrance to the winding road.
Have your camera ready as you will be enjoying breathtaking views of Luxembourg’s beautiful Moselle.
