Mike McQuaide was awarded a medallion of honor for his role in last year’s Trounwiessel.

Luxembourg Legacy’s partner and friend, Mike McQuaide, known as An American in Luxembourg, recently received a medallion of honor for his significant role in the grand ducal Trounwiessel (accession to the throne) festivities held in October 2025.

McQuaide was one of five Luxembourg residents chosen to accompany Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess Stephanie on their 12-hour whirlwind tour of the Grand Duchy last October following Guillaume’s accession to the throne.

In a social media post, McQuaide wrote:

“Last fall’s Trounwiessel was an epic celebration of Luxembourg’s history, identity, diversity and creativity, as well as an open-armed welcome to all those who call Luxembourg home.

I still shake my head in wonder that I was invited to take part and now, look at this—I just received a beautiful medal to forever commemorate that special day, and the themes of unity that our new Grand Duke Guillaume so eloquently spoke of on the stage at Glacis.

Luxembourg, you NEVER cease to surprise, delight and amaze me!”

Luxembourg Legacy offers a huge congratulations to McQuaide for this most deserved award and for all he does to promote Luxembourg as a Luxembourg-American dual citizen.
