Juegdschlass Restaurant

One of Kevin Wester’s favorite restaurants in the city limits of Luxembourg is Juegdschlass. Built in 1873, Juegdschlass was originally a private hunting lodge (the meaning of its name) owned by Luxembourg’s famed Arbed steel company. It’s located in Luxembourg City’s Bambësch forest, the city’s largest forest offering hiking and walking trails, city views and workout areas.   Even though you are still in the city (near Beggen and Walferdange), the serene location of Juegdschlass makes you feel like you are far away at a rustic lodge in the country.

The Juegdschlass website captures it well:

A piece of national folklore in Luxembourg…
The café-restaurant Juegdschlass in the Bambësch has been a favorite meeting place for generations of Luxembourgers. In the cold season, after a long autumn or winter walk, you can warm yourself next to the wood-burning stove and enjoy one of the specialties on our autumn and winter menu. As the days grow longer, when the spring and coming summer invites you to stay outdoors, you can enjoy the breath-taking view of the Alzette Valley from our terrace or simply take in nature under the shade of a large awning. With its enchanting atmosphere, the Juegdschlass is the ideal place to meet friends or celebrate family occasions. The Juegdschlass is without a doubt a piece of Luxembourg’s national folklore.

According to Kevin Juegdschlass should be on your Luxembourg restaurant bucket list.

“Not only is the setting gorgeous and relaxing but the food is wonderful and thoroughly Luxembourgish. I’ve enjoyed everything from traditional bouchée à la reine, to seasonal wild game, to an appetizer of traditional Luxembourgish kachkéis (Luxembourgish cooked cheese) with yummy homemade bread. But those who know me, know I am addicted to a good Dame Blanche (White Lady) hot fudge sundae for dessert. And the Dame Blanche at Juegdschlass is top of my list!”

Juegdschlass is open for lunch or dinner every day except Thursday. Because of the popularity of the restaurant, reservations are highly recommended and can only be made by phone.
