HOW IS ELIGIBILITY DETERMINED?

Here’s what we need from you

When you first reach out to us about Luxembourg dual citizenship, we are going to request that you share a simple pedigree with us. Then we can evaluate your eligibility and give you more information about applying for citizenship.

This pedigree should include:
  • Your most recent Luxembourgish ancestor
  • Each person in the direct line from that ancestor to you (grandparent, parent, etc. – no spouses needed)
  • Birth years and locations (especially the city/commune in Luxembourg)

Example Pedigree

  • Great-great-grandfather – Henry Schmit, born 1840 in Bissen, Mersch, Luxembourg
  • Great-grandfather – Frank Schmit, born 1899 in Port Washington, Ozaukee, Wisconsin
  • Grandmother – Sarah Schmit, born 1930 in Belgium, Ozaukee, Wisconsin
  • Father – John Bley, born 1960 in Belgium, Ozaukee, Wisconsin
  • Me – Rebecca Bley, born 1982 in Cedar Grove, Sheboygan, Wisconsin
