Findagrave.com a Valuable Genealogical Research Tool

When studying your family’s genealogy, one of the best free research tools available is the world-wide database of cemeteries and gravestones known as findagrave.com.

Just plug in your family member’s name and the city/state where they are buried and you will likely discover a photo of their gravestone and other genealogical information. Of course, not every cemetery can be found on findagrave.com, but this volunteer-driven database keeps adding more cemeteries and graves from around the world each week.

When using findagave.com, you can search by first and last name or just last name, or you can search an entire cemetery for possible other relatives and connections. This user-friendly database can be addictive, but in a good way! The findagrave.com movement is heavily American based, but it is a growing movement in Europe, including in Luxembourg. You can even become a volunteer contributor to the site.

If you haven’t already used findagrave.com, take some time and experience it. You will likely gain some fascinating knowledge about your family roots.
